Our seasonal wild mix of claytonia, lettuces, red sorrel and wild arugula makes the perfect base for a springtime salad!
Our signature wild mix is evolving with the new season! We are pleased to introduce our Spring Wild Mix: Sweet claytonia, tender, buttery lettuces, tart red sorrel and peppery wild arugula! For makings of this salad, we highly suggest utilizing what is available and in season: lots of shaved root veggies, fresh herbs, edible flowers like dandelion petals, violets, or mustard and arugula blooms. Top with some seeds or nuts, a vinegar-based dressing of your choice and enjoy!
The best part is all of the fixings can be customized according to your preferences!
Ingredients
1/2 lb of our Spring Wild Mix
Root veggies of your choice (we love carrots, radishes and beets), shaved into thin slices
Alliums like green onion and garlic, diced
Fresh herbs like chives, tarragon, parsley or cilantro (see our farm stand for what’s fresh!)
Edible flowers - we still have mustard and arugula flowers at the farm stand but no need to rely just on us for these! Explore what is coming up around you like dandelions, violets or garlic mustard!
Seeds or nuts (we love pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, walnuts and pecans)
Vinegar-based dressing - A super simple combo that is tried and true like apple cider vinegar and extra virgin olive oil work great as a dressing base. Just add salt, pepper and whatever other spices call to you and you are good to go! Otherwise, visit our farm stand for the best local dressings made by Drench.
Directions
Once your veggies are shaved, your flowers picked and your dressing thrown together, toss all ingredients together in a large mixing bowl and serve fresh and chilled!
