Gateway Farm is excited to partner with Washtenaw Meats, LLC by serving as a pickup site for local meats. Each month Wasthenaw Meats will bring proteins sourced from small farms to Gateway on the third Friday of each month. Just place your order to their Washtenaw Meats Store.
Washtenaw Meats started after two women farmers managing small farms and large families started collaborating on a number of projects. These experiences proved overwhelmingly positive as they allowed each woman’s individual farm to grow and operate more efficiently.
It became clear that the complicated endeavors of raising animals, processing animals, direct marketing, accounting, etc., are extremely challenging for one person or family to undertake independently.
So… these women began to dream up a way for small community farms to reconnect and created Washtenaw Meats.
Washtenaw Meats is collectively owned and operated by Sarah Schloss of nkidsfarm and Colleen Dauw of Dancer Creek Farm. They partner with other local farms in order to reinvigorate the small livestock system in Southeast Michigan.
By working together, they strengthen local area farmers and processors while bringing high quality, nutritious, safe, and humanely raised meat products to households, restaurants, and stores.

BYOC Co. (Bring Your Own Container) aims to reduce single-use plastic consumption by allowing you to refill your own containers from home with eco-friendly, ethically-produced household cleaning and personal care products.
We prioritize stocking Women-, BIPOC-, and LGBTQ-Owned brands that align with our overall mission and values. While we ultimately are looking to stock plastic-free alternatives to everyday items, that does not encompass the full scope of sustainability and ethical consumption we are looking to achieve. Our brands are small, pay their employees a livable wage, source high quality, plant based ingredients for their products, and avoid plastic usage in their packaging and how they get their products to us. Our shop is 100% cruelty-free, while also aiming to stock a variety of vegan options. To support the local economy (and because their products rock), we stock many local small businesses. Our dish soap, laundry liquid, castile soap, lotion, bar soaps, candles, and glass straws come from Michigan brands.
Starting in June of 2025 you can place an order on the BYOC Co. website and pick it up at Gateway Farm during the last weekend of the month. Orders will be dropped of on Thursdays and you can pick them up through Sunday of that weekend, anytime the Farm Stand is open.
