What is a CSA program?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. By becoming a member, you are truly investing in our farm, and in return you will receive top choice produce from each harvest. Being a member of a CSA program helps you eat seasonally and locally, and cultivates a connection between you and the farmers who are growing your food. By subscribing to our CSA program, you understand there are naturally occurring variables out of our control and that you are willing to accept the risk and more often reward our farmers potentially face throughout the growing season.
What makes our CSA box unique?
Sourcing directly from our USDA certified organic, permaculture-inspired farm and neighboring certified organic farms, including our sister farm Plymouth Orchards & Cider Mill, we provide our members with a hyper-local, seasonal, and convenient experience. Showcasing a diversified array of annual vegetables, microgreens, orchard products, herbs, and perennial foods, we carefully curate and thoughtfully plan boxes of the freshest organics for our CSA members.
What is included in our CSA share?
Our weekly CSA box is intended for a family of 4 or 2-3 veggie enthusiasts! Everything offered in your weekly share was grown on our farm and neighboring organic apple orchard, as well as Real Organic certified farms that also follow regenerative practices. Depending on seasonal availability, each CSA box will consist of 7-15 items. If you desire other produce or local pantry items in addition to your weekly share, feel free to pre-order additional items from our online store or shop in person at our onsite farm stand.
When do I retrieve my weekly CSA box?
While initially registering for your CSA share before your membership begins, you will be given a choice to pick up your weekly produce box on either Tuesdays or Fridays. The preferred pick up day chosen during registration will be the day your box is packed and ideally picked up throughout the CSA season.
Where do I retrieve my weekly CSA box?
Our farm stand address is 10665 Joy Rd. Plymouth, MI. The quaint yellow building at the corner of the farm property is our distribution hub for CSA boxes, seasonal subscriptions, and online orders. It also serves as our direct to consumer farm store during the high season.
How do I retrieve my weekly CSA box?
Each CSA box will be packed, labeled with the CSA member's last name, and stored in a walk-in cooler in our onsite farm stand. Each member will be provided with the walk-in cooler code at the beginning of their CSA season, and in every weekly email sent out by our CSA coordinator. To ensure each member receives the freshest produce, we suggest retrieving your CSA box on the day it was packed - either Tuesday or Friday. If you are unable to retrieve your CSA box on your pick up day, no worries! For your convenience, your CSA share will be available to be retrieved up to 6 days after your initial pick up date. If after 6 days your CSA share has not been picked up it will be composted or shared amongst the farm team.
What if I am unable to pick up my CSA box?
If for any reason throughout the season you are not able to make it out to pick up your CSA share you have a few options.
1) Ask a family member, neighbor, or friend to retrieve your box for you.
2) Let us know via email at info@gatewayfarmplymouth.com at least 24 hours in advance, and we will try our best to work something out for your specific needs.
How is my CSA box packaged & returned?
All CSA boxes are sanitized before being packed each week. When retrieving your CSA box please either take the box with you and return it the following week, or bring your own bag, box, or basket to retrieve the contents of your CSA box to take home with you. If you have chosen to take the produce in the CSA box home with you, please return the box to the designated area in the farm stand the following week.
