Gateway Farm is an ambitious and innovative farm-based business and project in Plymouth, Michigan. Over the 7 years of operation, the farm has successfully converted from a golf driving range to being a certified organic food growing farm that offers CSA's and sells at local markets. The next phase was the design and phased implementation of a permaculture-inspired perennial food system, rejuvenated ponds and wetlands and wildlife sanctuary. In 2022 Gateway Farm expanded its offerings to include farm tours and workshops as well as starting to develop a value-added product range. The next phase is to further develop Gateway Farm, over 2022-2024, to fulfill its full potential and bring to reality the vision of a thriving and innovative diversified farm business.

Position Details and Responsibilities
Gateway Farm is seeking a highly motivated, responsible and experienced individual to manage the further development of Gateway Farm business goals and objectives. This would be through leading coordinated operational activities working with Gateway Board of Directors, managers, farm staff, contractors and the broader community.
● High level understanding of organic annual and perennial farming, environmental education, and farm businesses.
● Project managing - Problem solving, decision making, time management and resource coordination, highly organized
● Team leading - Relationship building, motivation, conflict resolution, clear communication, nurturing skills of team, interpersonal and written and digital communication skills
● Business skills - Strategy, data analysis, budgeting, accounting, human resources management, research and reporting
● Working with and reporting to the board directors
● Working with and managing the farm staff
● Experience & qualifications across multiple areas
Qualifications & experience
● Experience with similar projects including but not limited to - business management, project management, human resources, working with a board of directors, community/client/vendor/contractor relations
● Degree / Certificates in Business, Agriculture or Environmental Education
Position details
● Full time - Hours vary throughout the year depending on the season
● Starting in January 2023
● 90 day Trial period
● Pay is dependent on experience and expertise
